NEO-CON RAPPROCHEMENT OF LIKE-MINDED PRESIDENTS POSSIBLE
"... Ahmadinejad's victory has forged the most homogenous and uniformly conservative executive branch, legislature and office of supreme leader in the 27 years of Islamic rule... governments driven by neo-conservative leaders in Washington and Tehran, rather than administrations headed by the US Democratic Party and Iranian reformists who can easily be labeled as soft and accommodationist, may enable credible concessions and discussions to take place..."

MESSAGE TO POTENTIAL OCCUPIERS OF IRAN
"... An Iranian publication recently carried an advertisement calling for applications from aspiring "martyrdom seekers"... tens of thousands are said to have signed up... the possibility that some of them at least will figure in operations to defend cities should the United States attack Iran cannot be ruled out. The value of the public recruitment of suicide bombers is not so much to enlist volunteers as it is a means to send a message to potential occupiers of what lies ahead. "

WHAT COUNTRY WAS THIS FLAWED ELECTION IN?
"... In a political system where the real power has become concentrated in the hands of unelected military, economic and right-wing ideological interests... voters were forced to choose between two flawed candidates where the relatively liberal contender came across as an out-of-touch elitist and his ultra-conservative opponent was able to put together a majority coalition of less-educated and fundamentalist voters based upon a pseudo-populist campaign promoting a more moral and value-centered society..."

U.S. CAUSED DEMISE OF DEMOCRATIC REFORM
"... The real winner in Iran is spiritual leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who will now be able to navigate the ship of state without the impediment of a reform-minded president, especially in foreign relations... President George W Bush's wars in Iraq and Afghanistan may be regarded as the most important contributing factor to the demise of the reformist movement in Iran... Neo-cons in the US couldn't have wished for better..."

SPY PLANE CRASH
A US Air Force U-2 spy plane has crashed in south-west Asia killing the pilot... the pilot was returning to base after completing a mission in support of US forces in Afghanistan.... Correspondents say south-west Asia is a phrase often used by the US military to refer to the Middle East... "The specific location is not releasable due to host nation sensitivities"... The pilot's unit - the 380th Expeditionary Wing - is based at the Al-Dhafra air base, near Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates...."
"... The long, thin plane, with a wing-span of 100 feet (30.5m) is able to cruise at 90,000ft (27,430m) - more than 17 miles (27km) up - so high that the pilot has to wear a spacesuit."
(Not likely that such a flight was need to look at US-controlled Afghanistan. More likely it was to spy on Iran which is between the UAE and Afghanistan.)

THE WAR WITH IRAN HAS ALREADY BEGUN
"... the US war with Iran has already begun... American over flights of Iranian soil are taking place... Bush has (initiated)... several covert offensive operations inside Iran... by the Mujahadeen el-Khalq, or MEK, an Iranian opposition group... working exclusively for the CIA's Directorate of Operations... to carry out remote bombings in Iran of the sort that the Bush administration condemns on a daily basis inside Iraq...
"... To the north, in neighbouring Azerbaijan, the US military is preparing a base of operations for a massive military presence that will foretell a major land-based campaign designed to capture Tehran... (via) the coastal highway running along the Caspian Sea from Azerbaijan to Tehran. US military planners have already begun war games calling for the deployment of multi-divisional forces into Azerbaijan. Logistical planning is well advanced concerning the basing of US air and ground power in Azerbaijan."
"... history will show that the US-led war with Iran... had already been under way since June 2005, when the CIA began its programme of MEK-executed terror bombings in Iran."
--Scott Ritter, former UN weapons inspector in Iraq, 1991-1998
